SAILING PROCEDURES

GETTING READY TO CRUISE FROM THE PORT OF PALM BEACH ON GRAND CLASSICA

The protocols communicated here apply only to guests departing from the Port of Palm Beach to Freeport, Grand Bahama Island. We will continue to update these protocols as public health situations evolve. Booked guests will be provided full details before sailing.

Requirements for Our Vaccinated and Non-Vaccinated Guests

  • For sailings departing Port of Palm Beach starting July 2, 2021: We strongly recommend all guests 16 years of age and older be fully vaccinated for COVID-19. To be considered fully vaccinated, the final dose of the vaccine must be completed at least 14 days before sailing.
  • Fully vaccinated guests who voluntarily show proof of vaccination will receive a wristband and will follow more relaxed guidance as per the CDC. All vaccinated guests must also undertake an Antigen test at the terminal, the cost of which needs to be paid to the third party vendor but will be reimbursed by Bahamas Paradise Cruise Line as Onboard Credit to your stateroom on the ship.
  • At check-in at the terminal at the Port of Palm Beach, guests can voluntarily provide documentation of their vaccination, such as the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (“CDC”) COVID-19 Vaccination Record Card. Guests are not required to show proof of vaccine, however guests that voluntarily provide proof of vaccine will not be subject to further protocols. Guests who are 16 and older and do not have, are unable to provide, or choose not to provide documentation will be considered unvaccinated.
  • Guests are not required to show proof of vaccination.

  • Our unvaccinated guests must undergo additional COVID-19 testing at check-in at their own expense, and follow the health protocols described below, which are based on guidance from the CDC.
  • All crew onboard Grand Classica will be fully vaccinated.

Authorized and Recommended Vaccines:

The CDC accepts all vaccines authorized by the FDA and the World Health Organization.

The World Health Organization has evaluated that the following vaccines against COVID-19 have met the necessary criteria for safety and efficacy:

  • AstraZeneca/Oxford vaccine
  • Johnson and Johnson
  • Moderna
  • Pfizer/BionTech
  • Sinopharm
  • Sinovac

Testing Requirements before Boarding:

Vaccinated

  • Vaccinated guests ages 12 and will be required to take a COVID-19 antigen test at the terminal. The cost of the test is $25 per person which the guest will pay directly to the third-party lab and Bahamas Paradise Cruise Line will reimburse that cost back in the form of an onboard credit.
  • All guests MUST register for the pre-boarding antigen test. You can register by visiting https://www.solvhealth.com/book-online/ABb2DA at least 24 hours before your sailing date.
  • IMPORTANT: All guests must arrive at the testing site by 3:30 pm to give ample time to conduct antigen tests and check in before boarding. All guests must be on board by 4:00 pm.

Non-Vaccinated

  • All non-vaccinated guests ages 2 and older will be required to provide a negative PCR test (SARS-CoV-2 RT-PCR) taken at least 72 hours before the sailing. In addition, guests will need to take a COVID-19 antigen test upon arrival at the terminal Testing at the terminal before embarkation will be conducted by a licensed and accredited third-party provider. Our non-vaccinated guests must register for this test at the terminal with the third-party testing provider and agree to the third-party testing provider’s terms and conditions. The cost of the antigen test at the terminal from the third-party vendor is $25 per guest with no reimbursement.
  • For non-vaccinated guests 16 and older, who are not able to provide a negative PCR test (SARS-CoV-2 RT-PCR) taken at least 72 hours before the sailing, a PCR test can be conducted at the port terminal. The total charge from the third-party testing vendor for this test is $120.00 per guest.
  • If a guest’s antigen test comes back positive at the terminal and they cannot board, Bahamas Paradise will offer them a future cruise credit or a refund.
  • If one person in the party tests positive for COVID-19, immediate family members and those traveling in the same cabin as the guest who tested positive, and those identified as close contact (for example, family members who travelled together in the same vehicle, but not sharing the same cabin, will be denied boarding.
  • If a guest shows any COVID-19 related symptoms while sailing, we will conduct approved tests at the medical facility onboard.
  • Antigen tests onboard are at a cost of $25 per person
  • Pre-Boarding Antigen testing for non-vaccinated guests will be complimentary for guests ages 2-15. Testing of guests under 2 years of age is not required.
  • All guests MUST register for the pre-boarding antigen test. You can register by visiting https://www.solvhealth.com/book-online/ABb2DA at least 24 hours before your sailing date.
  • IMPORTANT: All guests must arrive at the testing site by 3:30 pm to give ample time to conduct antigen tests and check in before boarding. All guests must be on board by 4:00 pm.

Masks

  • Face coverings are required to enter the terminal. If a guest forgets their face covering, Bahamas Paradise Cruise Line will have them available for a small fee.
  • Vaccinated and non-vaccinated guests do not need to wear a face covering while in open deck spaces.
  • Vaccinated and non-vaccinated guests need to wear face covering while in public areas inside the ship unless seated and actively eating or drinking.
  • Guests do not need to wear face coverings inside their stateroom.
  • Guests under age 2 are not required to wear a face covering.
  • While visiting public areas in Grand Bahama Island please follow all local guidelines as it relates to face covering requirements.

Travel Documents Checklist

  • Passport Books (not cards) are strongly recommended, but not required. Passports must be valid for at least six months after the sailing’s return date. Original birth certificates with raised seal of the state of birth and/or driver’s licenses are accepted when passports are not available.
  • COVID-19 Vaccination Record Card OR Negative RT-PCR Test Result to board the ship, for guests 16 and over.

Cruise & Stay Guests

  • Cruise & Stay guests need to apply and obtain the Bahamas Health Visa prior to sailing date.
  • Visit https://travel.gov.bs/ for application details
  • On the return, Cruise & Stay guests must to do another Covid-19 Antigen test before embarkation. The tests will be conducted at the resort.

Vaccinated:

  • In addition to the cruise line’s requirements, fully vaccinated Cruise & Stay guests will be required to upload valid proof of vaccination (such as CDC or government issued vaccine record card) in lieu of the COVID-19 PCR test requirement as part of the Bahamas Health Visa application process. Proof of vaccination must confirm guests have passed the two-week immunity period. At this time, The Bahamas Government will only be accepting vaccines by Pfizer, Moderna, Johnson & Johnson and AstraZeneca.

Unvaccinated:

  • In addition to the cruise line’s requirements, unvaccinated Cruise & Stay guests will be required to upload their negative COVID-19 PCR test results as part of the Bahamas Health Visa application process. Tests must be taken no more than 3 days prior to the date of arrival to the Bahamas. Children 11 and under are not required to take a test.

ONE WAY GUESTS:

  • All one-way guests sailing from the Bahamas are required to provide proof of COVID-19 PCR or Antigen test.

    Vaccinated:

    Vaccinated guests will be required to present proof of a negative COVID-19 antigen test taken on the day of sailing.

    Non-Vaccinated:

    Non-vaccinated guests will be required to present proof of a negative COVID-19 PCR test taken within 72 hours of sailing as well as proof of a negative antigen test on the day of sailing.

All guests sailing from West Palm Beach back to Grand Bahama Island will be required to undertake the same process, however the Antigen test will be performed by a 3rd party vendor at the port. Guests travelling one way may also require a Bahamian Travel Health Visa.

Cruise Ready Recap:

Follow these steps for a smooth boarding day.

1) If you are not vaccinated make sure to make your appointment for the PCR test (SARS-CoV-2 RT-PCR). You need your negative results 3 days before sailing.

2) As an additional safety measure non-vaccinated guests will be required to take a COVID-19 antigen test at the terminal before boarding.

3) Make sure you have all your other travel documents with you: Passport or Original Birth Certificate with a valid I.D.

Boarding Day:

  • We’ve designed an enhanced, staggered check-in and embarkation to streamline the process at the terminal. Guests who arrive early will not be able to begin boarding, and guests who arrive late will need to wait until we can work them into another group.
  • Remember you need to wear your face-covering at the terminal from valet parking to embarkation.

Onboard the Ship:

As we return to the sea, Bahamas Paradise Cruise Line is sailing with fewer guests on board, letting you ease back into your getaway.

Dining

As all dining venues will offer socially distanced seating; it is strongly encouraged that you make reservations in advance for your onboard dining. You can reserve a table at our specialty dining venues before your cruise by calling (800) 374-4363 or at the terminal before boarding.
