High Rock Sea Fest will be held Monday, August 6, 2018 from 11:00 am – 7:00 pm. This is a festival that celebrates annually the bounties of the sea. Here, at the High Rock Sea Fest you’ll enjoy live performances by local bands, a Junkanoo Rush-out, and some amazing culinary delights which includes all the fish, conch, and lobster you can eat!
BASRA Bernie Butler Swim Race will be held Saturday, August 18, 2018 form 10:00 pm – 7:00 am. This event is an annual swim race, which also has a beach party. This event is to raise awareness and funds for BASRA which is the Bahamas Air Sea Rescue Association. It will DJ music, along with having food and drinks for sale.
International Coastal Cleanup will be held Saturday, September 15, 2018 from 8:00 am – 10:00 am. If you’re passionate about the environment then you may want to be a part of this event and its efforts to resolve the issue of Marine Debris. This International Coastal Cleanup has been initiated the Ocean Conservancy. This is an amazing event to be a part of, the cleanup event will focus on collecting data on trash collected to find the source of marine debris, and this is an annual event that takes place the 3rd Saturday of September.
McLean’s Town Conch Cracking Festival will be held Monday, October 8, 2018 from 11:00 am – 8:00 pm. This event is annual and began back in 1972, and attracts both international and domestic visitors who eagerly compete for the coveted Bahamian designed conch trophy! This trophy is awarded to the best Conch Cracker in the country. This festival will be heavily themed around conch dishes, along with other food and drinks, and locally made souvenirs. This is a festival for the family, there will be many activities throughout the day for both adult and children to participate in, along with competitions and amazing live entertainment.
National Heroes Day will be held Monday, October 8, 2018. This is a recurring event, held the second Monday in October. National Heroes Day was formerly known as “Discovery Day” or “Columbus Day”. Since 2013 it has been dedicated to honoring Bahamian national heroes. National Heroes Day has an official ceremony held with the keynote speech by the Prime Minister, it’s a very special event where heroes from a cross-section of civil society are celebrated and honored with a week of activities. This is an event enjoyed by many, where families can gather together and beach picnics are in full swing.
