We know a lot of you are in from out of town to set sail out of the Port of Palm Beach to Grand Bahama Island, so we wanted to highlight some upcoming events taking place in West Palm Beach that you may want to check out before or after setting sail. Knowing in advance some of your options is always a plus, this way you don’t need to worry yourself with “What will we do?”
City Place: New artist collaboration called GARALA opened an innovative way to experience and understand art, this art exhibition will take you from the conception stage to its creation and all are Florida-based artists and gallerists. What makes this event extra special is the three artists were inspired to create this exhibition so they could engage the public as part of the artistic experience and process. The GARALA will take place Sundays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturday through the summer.
Sunset Celebration: This is held the last Friday of every month at Lake Park Harbor Marina from 6 pm to 9 pm. This event offers live entertainment from local bands, has a full cash bar with happy hour prices, a variety of local food along with local arts and crafts vendors. Admission and parking are both free for this event.
Wine Glass Painting: This is another free event held on Tuesday, July 24th at 9:45 am, located at the Mandel Public Library of West Palm Beach. You can join local artist Tina Maura for an exciting class where you’ll learn some cool techniques to make your very own hand-crafted wine glass – all supplies are provided, and this class is open to all skills levels.
Turtle Walk: This event takes place until the end of July and is truly a remarkable experience. The Turtle Walk is an exceptional program that allows its visitors the opportunity to learn and observe the nesting and egg-laying process of sea turtles. The amazing experience is very informative and excellent for all ages.
Evening of the Avenues: Music under the Stars – this is a free event that is held every Friday from 6 pm to 10 pm at Lake Worth Cultural Plaza – features free live music, a wine and beer garden, along with food and specialty item vendors.
Sushi & Stroll Summer Walk Series: This event takes place the Morikami Museum and Japanese Gardens on select Friday evenings (7/13/18, 8/10/18, & 9/14/18). Their mission is to engage a diverse audience by presenting Japanese cultural experience that educates and inspire. At this event, you’ll get to take part in an opportunity to stroll the gardens at sunset, experience three exhilarating taiko performance, enjoy premium Japanese sake and ice-cold beer, and taste Pan-Asian cuisine from the Cornell Café.
Lighthouse Moonrise Tour: Have you ever wanted to climb a lighthouse? Well, this event is just that, you’ll enjoy a spectacular evening with a full view of the full moon from the top of the Lighthouse! This viewing takes place at Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse & Museum on Thursday, July 26th (at 7:00 pm) through Friday, July 27th (at 7:30 pm). This tour is approximately 75 minutes long.
Boca Raton Summer Comedy Series: Comedy cure presents Joe Matarese on Saturday, July 28th at 8:00 pm at the Mizner Park Cultural Arts Center. So if you up for a good laugh and enjoy comedy shows, this may be an event you want to check out. Joe Matarese was on America’s Got Talent, and has been featured on David Letterman, Chelsea Lately, Craig Ferguson, and on Comedy Central.
Stingray Feeding: This a great educational and fun event to take the family to, it’s most definitely kid-friendly atmosphere, with fun for all ages. This event is located at the Sandoway Discovery Center and takes place Tuesday through Sundays at 2:45 pm. It’s an interactive environment where you’ll learn about the behavior and characteristics of the stingrays and be given the opportunity to feed and touch them.
Shark Feeding: This is another great event for the whole family, and great for all ages. The Sandoway Discovery Center hosts a daily shark feeding, which takes place in their 15,000-gallon shark tank. This event is interactive, educational, and fun where you’ll learn some amazing facts about the oceans top predator. This event is held Tuesday through Saturday at 10:30 am and Sunday’s at 1:30 pm.
