July 2019 Cruises to the Bahamas
4th of July is a special Holiday in the United States, it’s a symbolic day in Americas History known as Independence Day. It’s taken on many identities throughout the years and celebrated in many different forms such as firework displays, family reunions, concerts, barbeques, picnic, parades and baseball games, and most importantly family vacations. No matter how you celebrate the 4th of July, it’s still always a fun day with family and friends! On board both our ships the Grand Classica and the Grand Celebration we’ll be festive this 4th, we’ll be in full celebration mode! Our ships will feature an All American barbeque buffet, including smoked meats, and we’ll have an amazing salad bar that you can choose from; you can’t get more American than that!
If you’re thinking about setting sail this 4th of July, you won’t miss out on the festivities because we’ll be celebrating also. A lot of families plan a vacation around 4th of July, kids are out of school, and it’s a prime time, along with a festive time to travel. The 4th is symbolic for family get-togethers, whether you’re barbequing in your backyard, attending a family reunion, catching the firework display in your home town, or setting sail to Grand Bahama Island, it’s the idea of getting together with your close friends and family to celebrate good times, have good laughs, eat good food, and make memories that last a lifetime.
Brief History on Independence Day, also known as the 4th of July!
The original copy of the Declaration of Independence is housed in the Nation Archives in Washington D.C. We observe July 4th because it’s the day the United States laid down its claim to be a free and independent nation. It was on July 4th, 1776 that the thirteen original colonies claimed their independence from England; this is the historic event in our history that led to the formation of the United States of America and thus the celebration of 4th of July every year! Aside from the fireworks, parades, BBQ’s and all the other fun things we do to celebrate the 4th of July, an interesting event that occurs on the 4th is, on any capable military base, there is a salute of one gun for each state in the United States of America, this is called the Salute to the Union, and it’s fired on Independence Day at noon.
Happy Birthday, America!
