At Bahamas Paradise Cruise Line, we are honored to have been elected by FEMA to join the mission overseas to help save lives and provide relief aid for persons affected by the recent hurricanes in the Atlantic. In the aftermath of the storms, many residents have been displaced or left with massive flooding and other damages.
On Tuesday, September 19, 2017 we announced the call of duty from FEMA to charter our ship, MV Grand Celebration. The ship holds 750 cabins and is serving the housing and meal needs of the National Guard and first responders who are helping the islands residents rebuild their lives following damages caused by Hurricane Irma, Jose, and Maria.
The humanitarian mission began on Saturday, September 23, 2017 and the three (3) month sabbatical is slated to end later this year on December 23, 2017. Initially, we were headed to St. Thomas in the U.S. Virgin Islands. Over the weekend, the ship diverted to St. Croix at the request of FEMA.
Over the past weeks, we have reached out to our guests and travel partners who booked voyages to depart during the charter (from now till December 21st) to reschedule or cancel the reservations. We understand how this sabbatical has affected our guests, but it was simply the right thing to do. We have provided our booked guests (from now till December 21st) with two options; cancel with a full refund, or reschedule. As a courtesy, we are offering a $100 onboard spending credit for guest that choose to reschedule. Our cruise line will resume normal cruise operations starting with the first voyage on Saturday, December 23, 2017, from the Port of Palm Beach to Grand Bahama Island, Freeport.
Our customer service department is open and continuously reaching out to booked guest to discuss available options. Individuals who booked directly with our cruise line for cruises through December 21 can contact our customer service department at 800-374-4363 to reschedule or change their voyage date.
After Hurricane Irma made landfall in Florida on September 10th, we offered locals an opportunity to the aboard the ship for a low rate of $39 per person if they were without electricity and needed a place of refuge and hot meals.
Our main purpose has been to enrich people’s lives and make the world a better place. We are humbled to serve at such a critical time to help people in their time of need and serve as a catalyst for positive change in our community and the world.
